Dental Insurance Plans We Accept

Navigating dental insurance can feel overwhelming, but at Atlas Dental Specialists, we’re committed to making the process smooth and stress-free. Our experienced Pittsburgh dental team is dedicated to helping you maximize your insurance benefits and receive exceptional dental care. We accept MetLife, Cigna, Principal, Ameritas, and offer flexible payment options. We do not accept Medicaid at this time.

Comprehensive Insurance Coverage

At Atlas Dental Specialists, we partner with leading dental insurance providers to ensure you get the most comprehensive coverage possible. MetLife, Cigna, Principal, and Ameritas are just a few of the insurance plans we work with, each offering unique benefits tailored to your dental health needs.

MetLife stands out as a comprehensive provider, offering robust coverage for everything from preventive care to major dental procedures. We work closely with Cigna to provide flexible coverage options, helping you understand and maximize your annual benefits. Principal dental insurance offers extensive support for complex treatments, while Ameritas provides comprehensive plans that cover both routine and specialized dental care.

Maximizing Your Dental Insurance Benefits

Understanding your insurance can be complex, but our team is here to help. Most dental insurance plans include an annual maximum benefit, and we’ll help you track and utilize these benefits effectively. We’ll work with you to plan treatments strategically, ensuring you don’t lose unused benefits at year-end.

Preventive care is typically fully covered by most insurance plans. This includes routine cleanings, comprehensive oral examinations, diagnostic X-rays, and fluoride treatments. By prioritizing preventive care, you can avoid more costly treatments down the line and maintain optimal oral health.

Delta Dental Insurance Changes

Beginning January 1, 2027, our office will no longer be in-network with Delta Dental plans. This means we will no longer have an in-network agreement with Delta Dental.
Yes. You can absolutely continue to see us for your dental care. You do not need to change dentists simply because we are no longer in-network with Delta Dental.
Beginning January 1, you will be responsible for paying for your visits at the time of service. We will then submit your dental insurance claim to Delta Dental on your behalf and Delta Dental will send any reimbursement directly to you.
Yes. Your Delta Dental plan may still provide benefits when you receive care from an out-of-network dentist, depending on the specific plan you have. Delta Dental will process your claim according to your plan’s out-of-network benefits.
After Delta Dental processes your claim, any reimbursement due from Delta Dental will be sent directly to you. Because every Delta Dental plan is different, we recommend contacting Delta Dental directly to understand your specific out-of-network benefits, deductible, coinsurance, and annual maximum.
Yes. We will continue to submit your claims to Delta Dental as a courtesy. You will pay our office at the time of your visit, and Delta Dental will send any applicable reimbursement directly to you.
Your out-of-pocket cost may change because your Delta Dental plan may reimburse differently for out-of-network care. Your actual cost will depend on your individual plan and the services you receive. We encourage you to contact Delta Dental before your appointment to ask about your out-of-network benefits.
Yes. We offer a membership plan for patients who are interested in an alternative to traditional dental insurance. Our membership plan provides dental benefits directly through our office and can be a great option for patients who do not have insurance or who are looking for another way to manage the cost of their dental care.
You can learn more about our membership plan and enroll on our Patient Info page.
If you have upcoming dental treatment, we encourage you to plan ahead. If you have remaining benefits for 2026, consider scheduling your treatment before the end of the year. If you have questions about how this change will affect you specifically, please contact our office. We are happy to help you understand the changes and discuss your options.
