Point Breeze patients tend to do their homework. By the time they come in, many have read about snap-in dentures, All-on-4, and traditional plates and want a specialist to help them sort out which one actually fits their mouth, their health, and their budget. That is exactly the conversation a prosthodontist is trained to have.
Drs. Nicholas and Mara Mangini provide every type of denture and implant restoration at our Shadyside office, roughly ten minutes from Point Breeze by Fifth Avenue or Penn Avenue. Because they offer the full range, they have no reason to steer you toward one option over another.
Tooth replacement for a full arch falls on a spectrum. At one end is a conventional denture, which rests on the gums and is held by suction or adhesive. In the middle is an implant overdenture, a removable denture that snaps onto two to four implants. At the far end is a fixed implant bridge such as All-on-4, which is attached permanently and only removed by the dentist.
Each step along the spectrum adds stability and chewing strength, and each adds cost. For patients missing some but not all teeth, a partial denture can fill the gaps while protecting the teeth that remain.
Both options use implants, but they suit different people. A snap-in denture comes out at night for cleaning, needs fewer implants, and usually costs less. It is a strong choice when bone is limited or when you prefer the simplicity of removing and cleaning the denture yourself.
A fixed full-arch bridge feels closer to natural teeth and never comes out at home, but it requires more implants, more bone, and a larger investment. During your consultation we use 3D imaging to show you which options your bone can support, then lay the costs side by side so the decision is yours.
Not every plan has to happen at once. Many patients start with implants in the lower jaw, where a conventional denture is least stable, and keep a traditional upper denture for now. If they later want the same security on top, implants can be added to the upper arch without redoing the lower work.
We design the first phase with the final result in mind, so each step builds toward it. You will know the full timeline, the cost of each phase, and which decisions can wait.
Families in Point Breeze often stay put for decades, and they want dental work that lasts as long as they do. We approach denture care the same way, choosing materials and designs that can be maintained, relined, and repaired rather than replaced wholesale every few years.

It depends on your bone, your health, and your priorities. Snap-in dentures cost less and are easy to clean. Fixed full-arch bridges feel more like natural teeth. We show you what your bone can support and let you compare both.
Yes. Starting with the lower arch is very common because lower dentures are the least stable. Implants can be added to the upper arch later if you want the same security there.
Most implant overdentures use two to four implants per arch. The exact number depends on your bone volume and whether the denture is removable or fixed.
