Prosthodontist near Point Breeze

Point Breeze’s historic homes along tree-lined streets near Frick Park are home to a lot of patients who’ve had the same dental work in place for decades, quietly aging along with everything else. When a crown finally fails or a tooth needs replacing, a prosthodontist’s specialized training in restoration and implants tends to matter more here than in a typical general practice.

Point Breeze sits just past the Squirrel Hill border, a short drive from our Shadyside office. Drs. Nicholas and Mara Mangini, prosthodontists trained at the University of Pittsburgh, treat cases ranging from a single implant to a full-mouth rebuild.

What Three Extra Years of Training Actually Means

After dental school, prosthodontists complete three more years of residency focused specifically on replacing and restoring teeth, a level of training most general dentists don’t pursue, and one that becomes especially relevant for patients managing complex, long-standing dental work.

Restore It Properly, This Time.

Restorative & Implant Care for Point Breeze Patients

Dental implants remain the most durable option for a missing tooth, preserving the surrounding bone in a way that other replacements can’t. For patients with more extensive damage, full-mouth reconstruction rebuilds the entire bite in one coordinated plan.

Dentures and implant-supported dentures offer a dependable option for patients not ready for implant surgery, and crowns and bridges repair individual teeth without a larger procedure.

Replacing Old Work Efficiently

An aging bridge or a crown from the 1990s does not always need a long rebuild. Many replacements can be designed digitally and milled in our office, so swapping out failing work takes fewer visits than it once did.

For Point Breeze patients managing complex dental histories, that technology means treatment plans built on precise imaging instead of guesswork — and noticeably fewer office visits to get there.

A Plan Built Around Your Full Dental History

Point Breeze patients often arrive with dental work spanning several decades and more than one previous dentist. We take the time to understand that full picture before recommending a path forward, rather than treating whatever’s most visible first.

The Shadyside office Point Breeze patients visit is the newer of our two. The original is Downtown, where Dr. Kathryn Duncan Friedman practiced before Drs. Mara and Nick Mangini took over in 2014. Both completed prosthodontic training, and implant dentistry is a big part of their work.
